The Arab businessman and layman have at their disposal various English-Arabic dictionaries which they have recourse to for ordinary or everyday use, meanings and even nuances of English words. Such dictionaries however, are of little help in the field or with the language of insurance. We say language of insurance for, indeed, a language or terminology peculiar to insurance has evolved over the years, the meaning of which escapes the ordinary English speaker, let alone those for whom English is not their mother tongue. This is an attempt to fill the gap and to provide the Arab businessman, students of insurance, reinsurance and law and layman with a comprehensive, practical and up-to-date dictionary of this "language".
