Olaf Olsen - Senior Advisor

Olaf has been a Master Mariner for more than 30 years, with a background on tank and general cargo ships with companies such as Mobil Oil, Ben Line and Denholm.

In 1986 he became Head of Unit of Hazardous Cargo training at the Centre for Advanced Maritime Studies (CAMS) in Leith and during that period wrote and lectured on hazardous cargo, ship management, safety management and port, harbour and jetty operations. In 2002, when CAMS moved under the auspices of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Olaf continued to hold the position of Director.

Olaf joined Witherby Seamanship as Senior Advisor in 2005, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a viewpoint gained from a wide exposure to the industry.

When he was 7 Olaf wanted to be a deckhand on a submarine.
